I have this question in mind, and I wanted to know what you would choose if you had to pick just one item to make for all the presents you plan to give.

Would you choose a knitting pattern, a weaving pattern, handspun yarn, or something else?

Leave a comment below, maybe someone else besides me is looking for that one perfect project for 2024.

Oooooo, this is a tough one! My first thought would be washcloths or hand towels as they would be useful and good for anyone. But I think I’m going to say hot water bottle covers using handspun – spinning and knitting, twice the fun!

It’s funny how hot water bottles are pretty popular at the moment. I have one I knit years ago and an older (86+) friend made fun of it. She grew up in Germany and was a young child during the war, so possibly it was the go-to during that time to stay warm. I purchased four hot water bottles to do just that, make covers, and gift to my Ft Worden knitting annual luncheon, but ran out of time. Next year, hoping it will continue as the group is getting on in age. Thanks for throwing that idea out there. Happy spinning and knitting.

I would probably make a hand lotion, soap, or tea.

Oh, love the hand lotion idea. It could be made more man-friendly with a bearish label. :). Great ideas, Julia.

Mine would be hand knitted hats. Hats in the early morning hours during this time of year is needed and I have family that likes to walk early in the mornings, their heads and ears need to stay warm.

Hats are always a great one to gift. Hand-knit and great for all ages and folks. Thanks for throwing that out there as hats you just can’t go wrong with.

I would make a woven wall hanging with their favorite colors. Maybe about 12” x 16”. I would use handspun, roving, maybe a bit of lace from my wedding veil. It’s coming together! I would put it on a piece of driftwood from Lake Michigan, that is near my home.

Oh Pam, what a great way to use up the resources, pulling in some family history, local bits of home. Looking forward to seeing the finished piece. Thanks for sharing.

The best ones for me are the ones I’ll actually do. 🤣 Hats and cowls are my favorite!

I love adding cowls to the mix. I actually gave my son a handspun, hand knit close to neck cowl in dark browns and blacks to go with his coat. Thanks for sharing, Salena.

Shawls followed by blankets. The recipient is wrapped in love either way. 🫶🏻

I think I would do fiber trend’s knit and felted boot slippers . They make awesome gifts and they are a quick knit.

Karen, that is a fabulous idea. I have to go take a look and see if I have that pattern. Thanks for mentioning that one!
