#spin15aday2021 post no. 4

Beginning the new year with wool combing.

If you don’t have wool hand combs, you can always use a simple metal dog comb or brush, make a set of your own combs, or try onion holders. Create small samples for reference notes.

Here are some videos and an article I found for you:

A video to watch while you spin:

An article to read:

Maybe make some of your own:

Or try onion holders:

Remember, keep it simple. Spinning takes your hands, then maybe a stick, add a rock, and you’ve got weight. Fancy or plain, you pretty much can process and spin wool with anything you have on hand.

Happy combing!!!

Hi, I’m Sherrill, The 1764 Shepherdess.
I’m a maker based in the Pacific Northwest. With a love of wool, I have hosted spinning and fiber events and now find myself writing to encourage makers to slow down, work with intention, and reconnect with the history of crafting by hand. I look forward to having you join me on this journey!
