February 2023 mystery along that will chase the winter blues away.
Materials:
Approx. 200 grams fiber to spin (any color or fiber)
Knitting Needles to gauge completed yarn to about 4 sts/inch.
I will post the loosely written pattern on my website around February 15 for the 1764 makers to complete by February 28.
We will use #spin2knitMALFeb2023 for sharing our progress on Instagram.
That’s it. Pretty simple but fun!
02.14.23: See the update below.
02.20.23: Final update as noted below.
Simple Handspun Cowl
Materials:
Approximately 200 grams of handspun
US Size 8 Needles
Gauge: approx. 4 sts/inch though not highly critical
Abbreviations:
K – Knit P – Purl S1 – Slip one stitch purlwise
To adjust your stitch number, use a multiple of 5 + 2.
Cast on 62 stitches.
Row 1 (RS): P2, *K1, S1 purlwise, K1, P2; repeat from * to end.
Row 2 (WS): K2, *P3, K2; repeat from * to end.
Work these two rows for about 35″.
Bind off.
Final Update 02.20.23:
Block your piece, based on gauge given, approximately 15″ x 35″, though with the squishy rib it may be narrower or wider, a bit shorter or longer, depending on your own gauge.
Block as you wish (I steam blocked mine), take the bind off edge and bring it down along one side of the piece, seaming from the cast on edge up the side to the bind off edge. This creates the cowl.
Edit: Completed 02.26.23
